Creating Musical Opportunities for Kids
About The Program............
The Magic Of Music Program was initiated in 2007 by myself, Jillian Marie Jensen of Rochester, Massachusetts. As I won the title Miss MassachsuttsTeen America that year, I started the program as part of my community service project. My main objective was to give kids the opportunity to be a part of musical opportunities. I've loved music since I was a little girl. Music has made a huge impact on my life! I realized that I wanted to help kids have opportunities that I have had this far in my life! Through-out my fifteen years, I have been blessed to be able to take different types of music lessons and I wanted those who (LOVE MUSIC-LIKE MYSELF), but may need some financial assistance to experience this gift as well! So I started the Magic Of Music Program to raise money to give away scholarships to those kids who wish to pursue their musical dreams. These M.O.M. Scholarships are granted to kids for music lessons, musical instruments as well as other special musical needs.
I have raised to date more than $5,000 and have provided 7 scholarships already to local kids to pursue lessons in voice, acting and dance. I have also purchased musical instruments for the local BOYS AND GIRLS club where I volunteer weekly providing music lessons! I have more scholarships to give out. My goal is to continue to raise funds and give away as many scholarships as I can annually.
Prior to starting this program, I met with many local music stores, music teachers and spoke with them about my project. They were very impressed and many of them said they would help me out! I have had some great support from local teachers who are willing to cut prices on lessons or match my scholarship for kids to be able to take atleast one full year of music lessons. It is with this support my program has really taken off and I feel will be a great success.
My final part of the Magic of Music is encouraging other kids to get involved to help my cause and spread the word. Through my Magic of Music Idol Contest and Tour I have been able to get kids like myself on board to help fund my program.
